Shell and tube heat exchanger. Also known as steam-water fast heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is equipped with many heat exchange tubes in the cylinder (shell). The outside of the tube is steamed and the inside of the tube is heated water. The flow rate of water is generally between 0.5-2.0m/s, and the recommended flow rate is 1.0-1.5m/s. The heat exchange tubes can be seamless steel pipes, but copper pipes are mostly used. In order to ensure that the water flow rate is within a reasonable range, for large flow occasions, the method of reducing the number of return passes of the coil can be used to reduce the flow rate and also reduce the water resistance. On the contrary, the number of return trips can be increased.

There are also many types of shell and tube heat exchangers. There are fixed tube sheets, shell-and-tube heat exchangers with expansion joints; shell-and-tube heat exchangers with U-tubes and shell-and-tube heat exchangers with floating heads. Because the floating head heat exchanger solves the problem of thermal expansion and is more convenient to manufacture, clean and repair, it is the most widely used in this type of heat exchanger. In addition, shell-and-tube heat exchangers also have the form of water-water exchange, which is often used in steam condensate heat recovery systems.

The heat transfer coefficient K value of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger: for steam-water heat exchangers, when the heat exchange tube is steel pipe, K=1.40-2.40KW/(m2*k); when the heat exchange tube is copper tube, K=1.75-3.26KW/(m2*k); when used for water-water heat exchange, the K value drops to 0.58-1.05KW/(m2*k).


Selection of heat exchange equipment

In the air-conditioning water system, the correct choice of heat exchanger is essential for the normal and safe operation of the system. Generally, the following aspects should be considered:

1. Selection of the type of heat exchanger. The type selection should be considered according to its use requirements. In the air-conditioning water system, steam-water and water-water heat exchangers are commonly used. Water-to-water heat exchange can be divided into two kinds of heat exchanges between high-temperature hot water and hot water for air conditioning and cold water (low-temperature water).

In the selection of steam-water heat exchangers, the price of plate type and spiral plate type is higher, and the price of shell-and-tube type and floating coil type is moderate. When selecting heat exchangers for high-temperature hot water (95/70℃) and air-conditioning hot water (60/50℃), the heat exchange area required for calculation is generally larger, so the shell-and-tube type is not suitable. It is a cheaper spiral plate and floating coil heat exchanger. In the heat exchange process between low temperature and cold water, because the heat transfer temperature difference is small, it must have a large heat exchange area. The plate heat exchanger is the most suitable one of all heat exchangers. The other three heat exchangers can't achieve the effect it has, and its price alone is also the most expensive.

2. The heat transfer area of the heat exchanger can be calculated by the formula, but the calculation of the heat transfer coefficient is more complicated. You can consult the relevant product samples or information, or you can assist in the calculation. The selected heat exchange area should have a certain margin than the calculated value, generally 15%-20%.

3. The working pressure of the heat exchanger must be able to meet the maximum pressure requirement when the system is running or static. This is also the basic requirement to ensure the system works.

4. If the heating medium is steam or high-temperature hot water, pay attention to the type of heat exchanger sealing gasket and ensure its service life.

5. When choosing a heat exchanger, pay attention to the resistance loss on the water side. When the resistance is too large, it will increase the energy consumption of the circulating pump, or it will not match the pressure head of the water supply system, resulting in insufficient water and affecting the normal use of the system. When using a heat exchanger with automatic control, you must also pay attention to the resistance loss of the automatic control valve. For the water system using plate heat exchangers, because the gap between the heat exchangers is small, in order to protect it from clogging, Wangwang configures a filter with a smaller pore size on the water pipeline, so the resistance should not be ignored. The sum of the resistance losses of these devices must be less than or equal to the pressure head of the system.
