Centrifugal chiller unit oil pressure difference alarm

During the normal operation of a centrifugal chiller unit, the various operating components of the compressor need to be lubricated with refrigeration oil. When the oil supply system of the compressor fails, in order to avoid wear and burn of the operating components of the refrigeration compressor due to oil shortage, oil pressure difference detection is generally carried out. In a high-speed refrigeration compressor, by detecting the difference between the oil tank pressure and the oil pump outlet pressure, if it is less than 65KPa after a certain period of time, the unit alarm will be triggered, causing the unit to stop and thus protecting the compressor.

When the unit is operating normally, the oil pressure difference is between 125KPa and 165KPa. When the oil pressure difference is below 110KPa, we should investigate the cause of the pressure difference reduction to avoid further pressure drop and causing the unit to alarm.

Several possible causes and handling methods of oil pressure differential alarm:

1. The oil level in the fuel tank is low, and the oil pump cannot suck oil normally;

Solution: 1) Insufficient refrigeration oil in the system, replenish the refrigeration oil to the standard oil level of the sight glass;

2) The return oil is not smooth, and the refrigeration oil cannot return to the tank normally. At this time, it is necessary to

Identify the cause of poor oil return and address it.

2. The oil inside the system is dirty, causing the oil filter to become dirty and blocked;

Solution: Replace the oil filter and replace with new refrigeration oil;

3. The oil pump itself malfunctioned, causing it to be unable to suction oil;

Solution: Replace the oil pump with a new one

4. A large amount of refrigerant is mixed into the refrigeration oil, causing it to become thinner and resulting in a decrease in oil pressure difference;

Solution: Wait for the oil heater to heat and separate the refrigerant in the refrigeration oil;

5. Compressor return liquid, dilute refrigeration oil;

Solution: Identify the cause of excessive liquid return and address it;

6. The decrease in oil pressure difference caused by loose screws of the oil pressure regulating valve;

Solution: Readjust the oil pressure control valve to the appropriate pressure difference and tighten the fixing nut of the adjustment screw.
