From Theory to Implementation:

A Documentary of the Development of Hot Water Lithium Bromide Absorption Multi effect Refrigeration Units

In process industries such as petrochemicals and natural gas, a large amount of low-grade waste heat at 60-70 ℃ is difficult to efficiently utilize for a long time and often directly dissipates, resulting in energy waste. In response to this pain point, the company has collaborated with Zhejiang University to successfully develop a hot water type lithium bromide absorption multi effect refrigeration unit, which uses low-grade hot water as the driving energy to convert waste heat into a cold source that can be used for production or air conditioning.

Traditional lithium bromide units typically require a heat source above 80 ℃ to operate. The two major technological breakthroughs of this project are: firstly, adopting a three generator structure design to optimize the heat source distribution path; The second is to utilize the strong absorption characteristics of lithium bromide solution, actively reduce the internal pressure of the generator, significantly broaden the range of heat source temperature usage, and make low-grade waste heat truly usable.

As the company's first prototype from theoretical design to physical implementation, this aircraft carries the dual mission of technical verification and experience accumulation. At present, the project team has completed three key improvements to the heat source pipeline, throttle valve, and heat source distribution system. Both evaporators have successfully achieved refrigeration, marking the completion of core processes such as working fluid circulation and vacuum sealing. Of course, there is still room for improvement in the prototype - the current cooling temperature difference is relatively small, and the heat absorption per unit of cold water has not yet reached the design target, which is also the focus of the next step of research and development.

The significance of this machine lies not only in its ability to cool itself, but also in its accumulation of valuable physical verification data and practical experience for the engineering and large-scale application of low-grade heat source utilization technology. Next, the team will continue to work closely with Zhejiang University to continuously promote performance optimization, turning more "waste heat" into "cold sources" and helping the company continuously upgrade its energy-saving and consumption reducing technologies.
